Use A Meat Grinder To Avoid Food Recalls And Food Poisoning

2011 Food Recalls Are on Pace To Increase About 60% Over 2010

By MeatGrinderReviews.com

Per the United States Department of Agriculture’s web site, there have been 34 food recalls through July 2011 involving beef, chicken, pork, turkey and jerky meat and meat products. In 2010, there were 53 food recalls involving the same meats and meat products. The 2010 and year to date 2011 food recalls were spread amongst the following meats and meat products:

       2010  Through July 2011
Beef   22     11
Pork   14     6
Chicken   10     12
Turkey   4     3
Jerky   3     2
Total   53     34

Unfortunately, 2011 is trending higher than 2010, in terms of the number of recalls. At this rate, 2011 is on pace to increase almost 10% over all of the recalls that occurred in 2010. High volume meat processing and packing involves the slaughter and mixing together of numerous different animal parts from many different sources. As demonstrated by the number of recalls, this raises the risk of E. Coli and other harmful bacteria being introduced into the meat. There is a safer way to enjoy ground meat, whether beef, turkey, bison or other. Buy whole, primal cuts of meat to make homemade ground meat with a meat grinder and lessen the risk of food recalls and food poisoning.
