How To Clean And Store A Meat Grinder

Use Bread And Wash And Dry By Hand

By MeatGrinderReviews.com

  • A meat grinder can become greasy after use, even if you are using leaner meat and trimming excess fat off the meat before grinding. After extended use, and before washing the meat grinder with soap and water, run a few pieces of bread through the grinder. The bread will help soak up and clean away any grease and loose or random meat that may still be in the grinder.
  • Wash all of the meat grinder pieces by hand. Do not use a dishwasher. Washing the grinder pieces by hand will protect the blades, housing and plates from high heat, excess water and potential rusting.
  • Dry each piece of the meat grinder very thoroughly. Do not let the grinder air dry. To prevent rusting, use a towel and make sure each piece is adequately dried.
  • After drying, place the blades, plates and other pieces in a enclosable bag or container. Before closing the bag or container, place some rice inside. The rice will help absorb any moisture and prevent rusting. Make sure the bag or container is airtight.
  • Store the meat grinder in a dry area.
