Research says:

Engineered by Waring, this versatile meat grinder helps you ensure that the food you cook is as fresh as possible. Suitable for home use, the machine grinds beef for tacos, turkey for burgers, and pork for sausage, as well as non-meat items like vegetables and fruit. Powered by a 150-watt motor, the grinder has a durable die-cast metal hopper and brushed stainless-steel housing. It comes with three separate cutting plates to let you set the grind for the task at hand. Use the fine plate for baby food and hamburger, the medium plate for relishes and soup meat, and the coarse plate for vegetables or chunky ground. Operation of the grinder is simple, and the clearly marked on/off panel includes a reverse function that helps retrieve clogged food. The reverse toggle must be held down so you cannot accidentally leave it engaged. Waring also includes a small and a large sausage attachment for transferring blended meat and spices to sausage casings. Although the grinder may not have the hard-wearing qualities of all-metal models, the plastic used in its construction is both spare and durable. Waring includes a plastic food pusher and a recipe booklet, as well as a 5-year motor warranty and a 1-year warranty on the appliance. Cutting plates must be washed by hand.

Bought this grinder 2 elk seasons ago and have put about 180 pounds of meat through it. It is not the fastest machine out there but for the price it has surprised me. I had to adjust the shims on as the auger did not engage the drive shaft very deeply, but other than that it does keep going and going. Sure you can bog it down if you so desire, and yes I would love to spend $500 on a larger model, but this piece does keep working. The best change in my processing I did was to make sure the meat and fat w

Put some parts that were in contact with meat through dishwasher and it came up completely stripped of the coating. Called Waring pro they said none of their problem since it states not to put it into dishwasher. I have wasted $100 or so, no i will look for something made of cast iron or stainless steel. This POS is not worth the money.

I was able to use my Waring Pro MG100 grinder three times before the mismatched parts wore away and no longer engaged.
The motor is fine, the gears and all the grinder parts are made well enough but the way they go together is a shameful disregard for workmanship. There is a very small overlap where the corkscrew fits into and engages the motor inside the feed tube casing. This is a major torque point and while there appears to be as much as 3/4 inch that is available to use only a 1/4 to a 1/8 inch

There is a very small overlap where the corkscrew fits into and engages the motor inside the feed tube casing. This is a major torque point and while there appears to be as much as 3/4 inch that is available to use only a 1/4 to a 1/8 inch is actually used. When you assemble as directed and tighen the entire assembly you'll find it loose. The result is a little pressure on feeding meat into the grinder (how do you not put a little pressure on the feed tube)and the corkscrew will disengage, wear out the end and just like that you have a pile of junk that cannot be repaired. It couldn't have been designed that way. I took it apart, and isolated the weak points. There is no new part that if replaced will resolve the problem. It's truly sad that the labor of so many is completly wasted on producing something of such poor quality. Waring, you are the going down the wrong path.
Dang, I really wanted a meat grinder.

The first time I was trying to use the meatgrinder it was a total disappointment. As soon as I put the first couple pieces of meat (cut to the small cubes) into the Feeder Head, using the Food pusher, the Feed Screw came off and stopped rotating. The engine though kept working. I reset a few times making sure that the Feeder Head went into the proper place and firmly locked and the Feeder Screw was not loose but in the place. And when I switched the meat grinder on, the Feed Screw did rotate BUT as soon as I put meat into it, came off again and stayed loose.

After that I had to took it to one of the authorized dealers). After two weeks they returned the meat grinder back and claimed that it was repaired. Nevertheless, the story has repeated itself. Again, as soon as I put the first couple pieces of meat into the Feeder Head (cut to the small cubes) the Feed Screw came off and stopped rotating. The engine kept working.
Now I need to send it back to the manufacturer. I'm just sick and tired of that meatgrinder and so sorry that I waste my money and still my time on that.
That is my first review ever. Ii just want yoy. folks, not to repeat my mistake!

Then I made a discovery. The blade as assembled from the factory, and according to the instructions, was placed in the grinder correctly, but the blade was actually BACKWARD. Make sure you put the blade with the flat (ugly) side TOWARD the plate.

I then ground 15lbs of pork, with fat on, in about 5 minutes.

MY issue with the grinder is that I cannot find plates. I want a stuffing plate (no holes, just an open plate). Due to the design (tits on the plates, rather than on the grinder) I cannot seem to locate plates other than what came with it as replacements.

In all, an OK product for the money!

I bought this Waring grinder because I wanted to try grinding my own meat before investing a lot of money, so I wanted to try it out first. For lean meat cuts, with no fat, sinew, or tendon, it works pretty well. Also if you want to grind cooked meats, it also works very well. Using it as a sausage stuffer (which comes with the machine) does well as long as you don't have the grinding blade on while stuffing the casings. Anything fatty or sinewy, no matter how much you cut away will jam the grinding blade and blade cutter and require frequent stopping and cleaning. Also, the parts need to be stored in a plastic bag and well oiled as they begin to rust right away. I would recommend anyone with a Kitchen Aid standing mixer, to buy the $50 grinding/stuffing attachment as I have seen that used by one of my friends for the same purpose and it does not get jammed up like this grinder.

I got this grinder to turn some Deer into ground Deer, and it work very nicely. I cut the meat into one inch squares and even added some fresh lumps of pork lard to the mix with no problems whatsoever. I saw the grinder at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $99, so if you get for less you are getting a great deal. The only reason for four stars is that is is still not the best grinder out there, but for under a $100 it will serve you for quite some time.

From the first time that we tried product (MG100) we found it not usable. There seems to be a flaw in the way the product is designed. When the food pusher pressure is applied to guide the meat chunks through feeder pipe, the feeder moves from its horizontal position downward. This movement turns out to be sufficient to pull the feed screw out of the motor housing. In other words pushing the meat through the grinder guide leads to detachment of the main moving part from the motor, -- halting the grinding pr

I read a lot of reviews of this Grinder beforehand, so when I brought it home, I expected to have to be very careful with how big I cut the meat and on how much cartledge and "silver stuff" I left on my venison. Well in the process of skinning the deer, I stabbed my hand and was having a hard time gripping the meat and cleaning it up really well. But I gave it a shot anyway. Boy, let me tell you! It just ground everything I threw at it. I made 17 pounds of ground venison, and I never had to stop and clean the grinder once. I cut the meat up into cubes just small enough to fit down the feeding chute, and I left a lot of the tough silver stuff on there. I did apply some downward pressure on the plunger, but I suspect if I had been more patient, that it would have done the job without that. This is my first electric grinder, and I'm used to doing this with an old hand grinder, which will wear you out and make you shell out that money for the local deer processor to do it for you. But those days are over. I gave $108.00 for this grinder at my local hardware store after taxes and everything, and the processor wanted $75 just to ground; more than that for sausage and steaks and stuff. After my second deer this will have more than paid for itself, and I couldn't be more pleased with the performance.

As several other reviewers have said, this grinder is a very good deal for its price point. I've used it to grind Chicken, Pork and Beef and all have come out fantastic. As some have complained about jamming it really isn't a case of the grinders fault but rather of the meat. When grinding any kind of meat you must have it as cold as possible. It essentially should be almost frozen. If the meat begins to warm up, it will start to clog no matter what you do. This is pretty much the case with everything save for the huge industrial grinders so care must be taken before you grind meat in the first place.

Anyhow, as I mentioned before, grinding was smooth if a bit slow. I had no feeding or jamming problems whatsoever.

My only issue with this device is using it to stuff sausages. This grinder requires you to put a cutting plate before loading the sausage tube. Unfortunately if you're making any kind of emulsified sausage or if you've mixed a lot of extra ingredients into the meat mixture, this often leads to annoying clogging issues, even on the coarse cutting plate (which is what the manual recommended to use). Essentially if you're planning on stuffing sausage with this device, take care to keep your ground meat mixture as cold and dry as possible. If the ground meat mixture is excessively moist you're going to get excessive smear issues when it has to pass through the cutting plate.

All in all, a solid purchase for the money. Just get another device to stuff sausage instead of this one, you'll thank me later.

But there is one major flaw with the machine. We disassembled it to see if it was an easy fix. The gears are all made of plastic, which is more or less fine except one gear. I read many bad reviews here after I purchased my grinder. I hadn't used it yet so I considered taking it back that day. I had a deer hanging, so I didn't have time wait for a week for the outfitter model I was really wanting at that time. After reading some of the reviews I was dreading a disappointment. I used it, and guess what? IT WORKED GREAT. I ground 20 pounds of deer meat and never cleaning the knife once. I didn't have to really put any pressure on the stuffer either, as i had to basically push hard the whole time with my old one. Several comments were made about the knives and plates not being stainless I solved that problem witha 10 dollar bill. This grinder takes #5 plates and knives which can be purchased in a stainless product for 5 dollars each from any major outfitter, i purchased a stainless knife a stainless medium plate mine from Gander Mountain.
In summary: people chill out, this ain't a 300-400 class grinder obviously its a 100 dollar unit, its not going to grind a 900 pound cow in an hour or chew up bones. For the price point you won't find a grinder that will perform any better, most are all 2 pounds a minute until you are ready to spend about 200 bucks. If you aren't able to justify the 200-300 dollars for the outfitter style units, then buy this grinder as its just fine for someone who isn't running a meat processing shop on the side. I suspect those who didn't like it had the blade in backwards perhaps? many first time grinders wouldn't know better than to leave it facing the auger, that makes it chop the meat? Just make sure your knife is facing the plate, that is the only way you are going to get it to work as designed.
After using it and grinding my deer meat for the season, I am sort of glad i didn't spend the other 150 on the bigger outfitter model. I never waited much on the grinder at all, just plopping in the chunks, and occasionally tapping it with the pusher. Just keep your chunks small, don't attempt to feed a huge chunk down the hatch, it isn't engineered for that, and cutting the meat into 1 inch chunks will allow you to trim more fat anyway.
