Fresh ground sausages, meats for chili, and fish for soups can all be prepared at home with this professional quality meat grinder. Solid and sturdy, the beautiful brushed stainless-steel housing should last a lifetime. An extra-large, die-cast hopper holds a generous amount of cubed or sliced meat, which is then fed into the grinder tube with a long plastic pusher. Three metal cutting plates are included: fine, for spreads, pates, hamburger, and baby food; medium, for soup-related textures; and coarse, for ground meat used in chili. Fish and vegetables can also be ground with the appliance. Stored inside the pusher are two sausage attachments, which allow meats and spices to be combined for thin or plump sausages (recipes for Cajun, Italian, venison and other sausages are included in the user guide).

This is a very good product. Solid, heavy and strong and works very well. Easy to assemble provided you follow the directions precisely - which I didn't on first attempt, but a nice lady at the company soon set me straight. Would have liked it a little better if the removable parts were dishwasher safe, but that's a quibble. It gets the job done.

This is a vast improvement over the grinder attachment to the Kitchen-Aid. Is it just me or is the quality of Kitchen-Aid slipping a bit? My mother-in-law had ONE for years and years. I am on my third...I am beginning to wonder...sorry this is supposed to be a review of the Waring Meat Grinder! It is great- does just what we wanted and it isn't any harder to clean than any other I've used, and I've had a few, including a couple in Europe.

Pretty happy with the way the Waring works, I had ordered the Rival grinder for about 68 dollars before this one, and had to return it because of how discolored the cutting plate turned (it looked like a streak of oil in a puddle of water) and rust was developing, even though I dried it everytime.

In the Waring pro, all the moving parts are made of stainless steel, and quite dense too. There is a plastic ring in the metal tube that connects to the motor, I guess plastic is the ideal material

Conditional, as it does the job, but how long will it last?

I too grind chicken necks to feed to dogs and while it did grind the 40# I fed it, it certainly did get warm and does not sound very robust.

So, it did do the job, but I must wonder how long the motor will last?

I have ground 1400 pounds of necks in the largest Cabela's hand grinder over the last several years, and finally decided that my shoulder would take no more. The reviews I read here from the fellow ch

After 30 years of use, my old KitchenAid mixer meat grinder attachment was kaput. I tried to find replacement parts, but they did not exist. When I looked at the new version I was disappointed to find most of it is now plastic, and the cutting disc was so flimsy I was very sure it would not last. I have been grinding my own beef, veal and pork from grocery store meat for a long time -- never anything with bones. This is built like my old grinder, with the advantage of a larger hopper and cutting discs, a th

I have had this grinder just a few days and I absolutely love it !! After using it to grind a 4 lb. chuck roast in less than a minute, I immediately contacted my daughter and told her she just had to get one. She ordered it from Amazon and is now waiting for delivery. Mine was delivered only three days after I ordered it, so she probably won't have to wait long. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I buy a lot of kitchen items, most that do not live up to the claims, but I don't believe anyone would be disappointed with the quality and performance of this appliance.

This is a very good product. Grinds 20 pounds in 5-7 minutes. Very satisfied.
The only problem, and it might not even be a problem, is that I noticed this dark oil like spots on the ground meat. So I just carefully removed them (it happened 3 or 4 times). Hopefuly it will go away after the first use. Let's see what happens next time I use it.

I have been using this grinder to save money, but still offer my dog high quality raw meats! I use this grinder on raw chicken quarters (leg and thigh meat). The grinder is powerful enough to grind all leg and thigh bones with the meat attached (sections that will fit into the grinder opening). Have also used this grinder for organ meats which are essential for good pet health. I have been able to reduce my black lab's raw food bill from $40.00 a month to $10.00 a month!

My Wife and I decided we wanted to grind our own hamburger and sausage to better control the fat content of our meats. I had worked as a meat cutter apprentice in high school and during college back in the days of breaking down sides of beef locally, so I was skeptical that a "home meat grinder" would work well. We decided to purchased this same exact grinder at carbelas.com on sale much less expensive than the Waring version. The reviews for this grinder were overwhelmingly postive so I took a chance, and I am glad I did. The grinder works fantastic and the meat comes out better than store bought. I used it to grind up some top sirloin and I didnt need to use the plunger to push the meat through. The motor didnt bog down or even blink. I cant wait to try making sausage using some of the old recipes! If you are thinking of buying a home grinder, look no further, this one is a winner.

I love to cook and have practically every appliance available. Many items remain in their boxes and are seldom used, but this grinder is an exception. The idea of buying store-bought ground meats is a real turn off since I have been grinding my own. Most of us have seen or read about what goes in the meat we buy or question the hygiene of the store employees or handlers of the product. That being said, the Waring Pro lives up to all of its positive reviews.

Cleanup is easy, especially if it is done right away so parts don't have meat drying and sticking. I air dry and store the grinding plates in a bag of rice as another reviewer suggested, preventing the need to oil and avoiding the guminess that can be caused with prolonged storage.

The noise of the motor that some felt was excessive is to me what would be expected from a grinder, it can't do the job and purr like a kitten!

The unit is well made, sturdy, attractive, and gets the job done with ease. No problems with jams or speed and the finished product is a beautiful thing! I also suggest running bread or crackers through to purge the remains from the meat.

Ground beef is my primary use for this machine and after extensive Internet searches for the best cuts to use, I have found that a combination of chuck and sirloin renders the best flavor, texture, and fat content. I trim any silver skin and grizzle from the meat, cube and chill, and run it first through the course grind, then the medium. When sirloin steaks are on sale (typically $2.98 lb. at the local Wegmans) I will ask the butcher for the whole cryovaced piece and purchase an equal amount of chuck at around $2.49 lb. This makes the price of top quality, safe and delicious ground beef comparable to the regular priced store-bought. I have found that the texture tends to be softer when using whole cuts rather than trimings so resist the temptation to grind more than twice.

Bought this grinder after alot of research between other brands. The grinder is heavy built. The hopper on top allows you plenty of room to put meat before grinding.I have used it to make stew and ground 40lbs of meat with no effort. This is a great product and easy to use but make sure to handwash the hopper, auger and the dies and blades. Just keep the cutting blades and dies oiled to keep from rusting. Great product just requires a little care.

I have used this model for over a year without any problems. Works great for sausage and ground beef. We recently put 4 lbs of pork through the machine in a few minutes. Easy to take apart and clean. Only complaint is that the discharge end of the grinder needs to be an inch or two longer to fall into standard kitchen (restaurant) bowls easier.

For those that complain about the cutter and dies rusting, of course they will. They are high strength steel (stainless steel would be way too soft to work). Don't put them in the dishwasher, wash by hand. Don't coat them with veg oil and put in a plastic bag. While this stops any rusting problem, if you are using the blades every few months, the oil gets rancid and hard to wash off. A Food Network Alton Brown show recommended storing the cutter and dies in a baggie with some rice. The rice absorbes any moisture. I have done that for the past year and it works great!!!

Once you've tasted fresh ground-round (that is, gound-round made from steaks you've purchased ), you will never buy pre-ground beef again. I trim almost all of the fat from the steaks, yet the beef is still most and makes great patties. You do need to use or freeze with 24 hours or the flavor dissipates.

I'm also using Emeril's recipes to make Cajun and Boudin Sausage, and they are incredible--as good as anything I've had in NoLa.

It takes 3-4 uses to get good at sausage making, but with a little patience you will get the hang of this product--and love it.

After buying a less expensive meat grinder and having nothing but problems with it, prior to it breaking, and then grinding meat the old fashioned way with a hand grinder, I decided to pay the extra money and get something that might actually work! After two extensive meat grinding sessions, I am totally pleased with my Waring Pro. I purposely purchased cuts of meat with alot of fat and gristle to see how the grinder would perform and it performed flawlessly. I cut off some of the fat, cut the meat in 5 inch by 1 inch strips and chilled the meat in the freezer prior to grinding. The Waring Pro MG-800 handled the job with power to spare. The grinder didn't clog and ground its way through about 10 pounds of meat in just a few minutes. Cleanup is simple and re-assembly is a snap. Great product that does what it claims. If you're gonna spend the money, spend a few dollars more and get something that's worth having!

I have this grinder for just over a year but it was only used a couple of times. It worked OK but a long way from commercial grade. Small bone that accidentally stuck in chunk of meat managed to destroy the gear as it would be a cheap plastic. And what a surprise. I took this thing apart and found a plastic gear inside, which is engaged with metal drive shaft of the motor. Combination that should never work. Just wondering about this guy who designed it. Long story short. Almost $100 for the new motor and $65 to install. I will never use it again. Look for something with a completely metal gear. Hope it helps to make a decision.

I normally do not do reviews and not unless I have had the product for awhile...time enough to really evaluate. We have now had this grinder for probably close to two years. We grind 35 to 40 pounds of beef every 5 weeks for raw dog food for our two dogs. Never have had any issues or complaints. If meat is cut up small enough (1 inch cubes) the meat feeds very smoothly and very rarely is the plunger used to force feed. I keep seeing reviews referring to rust but I have not ever had that issue. I wash the parts thoroughly and allow to air dry and never any issue of rust. Clean up is very easy. I can highly recommend this grinder to anyone in need of one.

I bought that ill-fated K'Aid food grinder and I had only used it once - for the first time, and it almost killed on of my K'Aid Stand mixers!!

Rather than to keep it and take that dangerous chance again, I sent it back to Cooking.com and bought the Waring Pro Meat Grinder. And even on the first try, this machine has has earned a place in my kitchen!! It quickly and powerfully grinds raw meat for burgers, meat loaf and pasta sauces!! It also processes meat for sausages as well!

It comes with a sausage stuffer attachment as well. It makes short work of your everday meal preparations by allowing you to make moist tender juicy burgers and meat loaf.

And unlike the K'Aid food grinder which is all-plastic, the body of the Waring Pro is all-metal. The tray, hopper, and worm are all die-cast metal, while the unit's body is a shiny stainless steel. Only the pusher and sausage stuffer attachment are plastic.

Comes also, with three diffrerent size extruders, large cutting blade and
has a powerful 430-watt motor. The unit is a bit noisy, but it really Gets the Job Done!!!

Cleanup is a snap! Just wash all removable parts except the main unit by hand in some hot soapy water. Let dry thoroughly before re-assembly.

So far, I like this unit!! I love that it has the reverse feature which helps dislodge stuch food so that it dosen't back up and clog the unit!! It beat that ill-fated K'Aid grinder hands down!!

I've ground meat for burgers and other things, and the machine has never batted an eyelash at all!! Great unit!!

Fairly strong meat grinder. It is necessary, however, to remove as much sinew as possible and cut meat/chicken into medium-small pieces to avoid jams. Lean meat grinds quickly and easily, but a fattier cut jams and takes longer. The motor is powerful, the 3 cutting blades are a plus, and the reverse feature helps to avoid jams. Overall, I would recommend.

I recently purchased this grinder and have ran about 100lbs of meat through it. It is powerful enough to run beef straight through the medium grind, but with game meat, I noticed that it will really bog down if you don't do the course grind first and then the medium grind.

One other key tip I noticed is if you cut your meat in strips and feed it in, it will just pull the strip in and you don't even need to use the push tube. The real work comes when you are doing a re-grind. That takes a while to pack the meat in and feed it through.

All in all it was definitely worth the money and will probably be purchasing another for double action.

I was very impressed with this grinder. I originally bought this because of seeing such good reviews and I have to agree that I was not disappointed! We have processed two deer so far. Both were mostly frozen meat (we had to freeze it so it wouldn't go bad while awaiting the grinder getting here). It handled the half thawed meat quite well. With only an occasional slowing. over all: easy clean, and quite nice. We did not have any problems with it tipping over as some have said it has a tendency to do.

Pros: Simple, straight forward on/off switch. Only a few parts to disassemble and clean. Grinds quickly.

Cons: Very loud motor. Reminds me of my vacuum cleaner when I turn it on.. just freaks out the pets.

Seems to handle chicken bone ok. though to get it to fit in the grinder, I have to use my cleaver and chop the bones into half inch chunks. So, it's more time consuming than I'd like. Some bone does collect on the inside of the grinder. Fat also tends to collect on one side of the grinder, so fresh meat only comes out on the right side of the plate. It does get a little warm after about 5 or so minutes of use. I've only ever had the motor on for 5 minutes straight at a time. I use the grinder to feed my cats who are on a raw diet, for my toothless cat specifically. Cats who have teeth should eat whole food...

Just make sure to clean all parts thoroughly, and DRY them before you store the parts away, and coat with a light amount of veggie or olive oil, or in my case I use Pam cooking spray. Don't put through dishwasher.

I've used 2-3 grinders and this grinder is excellent as long as you follow the instructions. I use it to make sausage, 5 lbs. at a time. I experienced no problems in grinding meat for sausage.

However, stuffing casings with wet, ground sausage meat, does present problems. (I think all grinders will exhibit the same problem). If you follow a recipe that is particularly wet, you will experience some difficulty using the plunger as wet, ground pork is very sticky. Pushing in the plunger is no problem; it's getting out that takes work. The plunger quickly creates a vacuum in the grinder throat as you extract it. You learn only to push 1/4-1/2 way down to ease the plunger extraction. I don't fault the grinder design for this. After all, there are plungers on the market to solve this problem with wet pork. I intend to cut off a plastic dowel, of a smaller diameter, to use as a plunger to solve this problem.

I have two negatives about the product, both somewhat minor. The first negative aspect is the cheap design of the plunger. It is a hollow plastic shell w/ a cheap plastic cap. One stores the sausage tubes inside this shell. The first time I tried to pop off the cap, the cap broke. Secondly, I would prefer a design that had a lift handle, or some such, to make it easier to extract the plunger out.

My second gripe is that the diameter of the holes in the largest plate is a little more than 1/4". I would have preferred at least 1/2" for coarse chili meat grinding.

On the side, (for barf makers - I'm not one) the manual specifically says not to pass bones through the machine. Read other reviews for their experience. Lastly, the word "Professional" in the product's title is misleading since the manual disclaims its commercial use.

I love this machine!! Keep in mind that I was processing game with a cup size food processor prior to making this purchase. :)

We lost our deer processor last year, so this year decided do do the processing ourselves and after using the personal sized food processor to grind little bits last year, I decided that if we were going to do this ourselves we definitely needed a meat grinder. While researching meat grinders, there was one review that kept popping out at me and that was from a guy who said he processed his wild game with this machine. That was what originally sold me on this model....well, that and those who ground up meat and bones for thier pets on the BARF diet. I figured if this could grind up bones it should be pretty hardy.

So far we've run 2 wild pigs and 3 deer through it and it has performed flawlessly! The hardest part about the whole processing thing is trimming the meat to go into the machine as sometimes the game meat gets a bit slimey with membranes. Once the yucky meat has been trimmed off the good stuff, this grinder goes through it like butter. We also ground up the trimmings, gristle, and membraney stuff for the dogs and it went through that like it was nothing as well. Truly, I LOVE this thing!

I find cleanup to be a breeze too, and we don't have a dishwasher so everything is washed by hand in this house. No problem with this machine or any of its parts. Hot, soapy water and a brush, and its good to go. The grinding plates do need to be rubbed in cooking oil and stored in wax paper once they've been washed, but as one other reviewer said, if you're used to working with cast iron cookware, you'll have no problem with this. Its seriously worth every penny we paid for it!! Honestly, I think its already paid for itself in what we would have spent at the deer processor's this year alone!

This grinder makes short work of deer meat. A Minimum pushing of the meat is required, while processing the meat. Once the blades grab the meat, your work is done. The unit also cleans up easily. This is the best best grinder my hunting mates and I have ever used. The motor doesn't seem to work hard at all. Yes, this product worked very well for me. I ground 12lbs of pork shoulder and made sausage from it using this machine. Sausage would be much easier to make with 2 people, but that's probably true of most sausage stuffers. I never had to switch to reverse or feed bread/crackers through to prevent jams as the directions said I might. However, no part of this product is dishwasher safe. It's used to grind raw meat, but you can't put any part of it in the dishwasher. I am confused by the reviews that say clean up was easy for them. There are a bunch of little parts with gobs or slimed up raw meat stuck to all of them; then you have to scrape off what you can and wash it in your sink. It was gross. But the sausage was good.

This meat grinder is easy to assemble and does a good job grinding meat. I have only used it for beef to make burgers - about 8 burgers at a time. It cleans relatively easy, especially if you run saltines through it at the end of your grind. I got that tip from another review.

The grinding plate and the blade can apparently rust, but I haven't had a problem with that yet, though I have cleaned them meticulously, oiled them and stored them in wax paper. When I first unpacked them, they smelled like elementary school art class. I don't think it would make you sick, but I gave all of the components a really good wash before I started grinding.

To the important part - are the burgers better? I would vote yes. If you use a nice cut of sirloin, the burgers are amazing. Plus, I feel safer about cooking them medium rare, or rare. You can also grind sweet onions into the beef which ads a lot of flavor. I have been smoking my burgers for 30 minutes at 180* using mesquite on my Traeger grill and then cooking at a high heat on a Weber grill. Perfection.

I was a little intimidated by it but it is easy to set up, simple to clean and works like a dream.I have used it for chicken, beef, and pork and even used it to mix various sausages with the meat I was grinding. It also ground the onions, peppers and spices I was adding to the meats for meatloaf without a problem. I agree with the recommendation to use a slice of bread occasionally to help clean the machine out. I am allergic to wheat , so I tried a little oatmeal and an apple which worked just fine. Neither is necessary, though. The machine comes apart readily, and cleans quickly and easily. I love it! (Now if only I can convince my cats that they should be eating real meat instead of kitty kibble)!

I went thru 3 Kitchen Aid grinder attachments and finally gave up on that. Did some research and this one seemed to be a good bet. I have been using it for 3 years now, mostly grinding chuck and round roasts for burgers. It does a fine job. Motor is plenty strong and feeds well, rarely needing to use the plunger. Watch cleaning it up, there are a few crevasses around and on the "feeder". I didn't notice them for a couple of times and had to use a tooth pick and an ice pick to get it clean (fortunately we didn't get sick). If you wash it in hot water and soap as soon as you're done, it cleans up good. The detachable base does not get soiled. All in all, I would definately but it again.

So far this product is living up to expectations. I use the grinder primarily for preparing raw meals for dogs, but will be trying my hand with sausage pretty soon.

I don't process chicken fat or skin in this grinder, so I can't comment on clogs. I haven't had any problems with beef (no bones) or chicken (with bones). No jams, clogs, or slowdowns. I'd love a wider hopper, but I imagine that only comes with much more powerful, commercial high-use machines.

The balance of this machine seems fine, and the noise is much less than I anticipated after reading other reviews.

Cleanup is easy; I had more problems getting the plate cap off, even with the tightening/loosening tool that comes with the machine. The good-quality blade and plates can rust, so storing them in olive oil immediately after drying takes care of that easily and quickly. If you've ever owned cast iron or carbon, you'll already be familiar with this.

So, on this New Year Day, as I get up late and get ready to hang out and have fun with loved ones, I'm tellin' ya, this grinder works well and I'm looking forward to having fun with it. Plus, it's shiny!

Happy New Year, everyone.

I have used this grinder for a couple of weeks to process the trimmings on an elk and antelope (about 60 lbs of trim). It has performed flawlessly so far. It is easy to use, and easy to clean, and appears to but very well constructed. It its price range it seems like the best option. I would have given it 5 stars, but I have not really used other grinders- except for the kitchen aid meat grinding attachment. I bought that this year and after grinding about 6 lbs of trim the main drive gear in my mixer broke. Thinking it was probably the result of some wear; I replaced the gear and started to grind again. The same thing happened. I returned the mixing attachment and returned the stripped gears to kitchen Aid (I haven't heard back from them)- DO NOT BUY THE MEAT GRINDER ATTACHMENT FOR A KITCHEN AID MIXER! I have used the sausage attachments that come with the grinder and they work great. Also I purchased an LEM 2" attachment for packing poly bags of burger and sausage- this model corresponds to their #8 grinder. The one thing I don't like about the grinder is the meat stomper- it is hollow with a cap to store accessories, a solid one would be better. I definitely recommend this grinder for someone processing game.

Recently purchased the MG-800 and started making sausage. The machine is easy to use and clean and does what it claims to do. Two issues I have found with it are:

1. Hopper sides are a bit low and the bottom is flat. This makes spillages a bit of a problem and working alone a bit more complex.

2. Machine could be heavier. I have managed to almost topple it a few times when using the meat pushing rod.

All in all a good purchase so far.

This grinder has enough amps in the motor to process quickly. I processed 3 deer recently. I did not have to take the grinder apart to clear the stringy fascia even once. Grinding was effortless. I like the forward and reverse switch mechanism for clearing jams. Reverse automatically stops when you remove pressure. Since I didn't have to actually use it, I can't tell you that it works great. All peices ahave a good fit. The stainless makes cleaning rather easy. Truth in advertising wouldn't allow me to promote this as a Professional grinder (which I have used), but I think that this grinder has found a home. It's definitely worth the money.

This grinder did everything the discription said it would. We use it to grind venison and pork, to make sausage and snack sticks. It pulls the meat through very well, is sturdy and stable and easy to clean.
Previously we used our Kitchenaid mixer grinder attachment, which does a nice job for small amounts ( about 5 to 10 pounds of meat).
But the Waring MG800 did 20 pounds of meat in just a few minutes and was ready to keep going. We are very happy with this grinder and my husband tells everyone about it.

We have had this for a few months and we have metal bits in our meat and a grey sludge that drips out. In addition, even with following the cleaning instructions we have rotten bits of meat that stick in the grinding tube. Also, the grinding & meat platform seem to be made of a cheap pot metal that oxides like crazy so we have grey dust on our hands when we touch it.

We own LOTs of kitchen appliances and this one is by far the worst. We are looking around for an all stainless steel grinder to replace this one with. This appliance is by far the most energy & time intensve to even try to clean that we have used.

Until I purchased this meat grinder, I was grinding with a manual one. It was a chore to set up and clean up. The Pro MG-800 Professional Meat Grinder made the grinding easy. It does not have to be clamped on the table. Ground meat comes out nicely into a bowl underneath. Easy clean up, fast speed, three blades interchangeable for the grinding. I am totally happy with the product I purchased. Also, on top of being an efficient grinder it is very compact that does not take much space for storing. The advantage of having a grinder is I can grind my preferred cut anytime and know what went into the ground meat.

We are very happy with our meat grinder. It doesn't jam up and cleans up very easily. Couldn't be more pleased.
